2022 Somatica In-Person BDSM Class

There is a growing need for Somatica practitioners who are not only affirming of BDSM education, fetish, and kinky desires, but also knowledgeable and capable of guiding clients to learn BDSM.BDSM Education ClassIn this Somatica BDSM class you learn the fundamentals of dominance and submission, BDSM, and kink exploration. You are taught how to create and maintain a therapeutic container where your clients can feel empowered to explore the multidimensional world of BDSM. And you study how to tie Core Desires into BDSM play, heightening fulfillment for even well-versed and experienced clients.

In addition to learning safety and communication protocols, you will master the use of basic BDSM props such as restraints, rope, and impact toys, as well as body mechanics essential for safety. As a practitioner, this class prepares you to support your clients while they explore their shadow desires.

You will leave this workshop not only with practical knowledge, but a deeper understanding of the psychology of shadow desires. This includes discussing case studies of common issues and kinks, as well as how to navigate pitfalls practitioners encounter while working in this realm.

Exploring your own dominant and submissive desires are also encouraged, so you may share these parts of yourself authentically as you teach clients to do the same.

  • BDSM basics including but not limited to: negotiation, safety, body mechanics,  impact play, D/s energy and embodiment, creating a shadow container, and much, much more!

  • The skills to nurture yourself and honor your boundaries while working with clients in this realm
  • How to effectively apply fundamental Somatica tools to support clients in exploring shadow desires
  • Kink education: how to navigate common kinks, issues, and obstacles
  • How to create a full BDSM scene
  • How to market yourself as a BDSM and kink-knowledgeable coach
  • How to discuss BDSM and kink with prospective clients

Who is This BDSM Class For?

This class is for Somatica graduates who would like to work with cli

ents on dominance, submission, BDSM, kink and fetish desires. It’s also for those who would like to better understand these desires in their own lives, erotic connections, or relationships. 

Meet Your Teacher 

Shelby Devlin is a Certified Somatica Coach with an M.A. in Sexuality Studies. She routinely supports clients in exploring shadow desires, including D/s, BDSM, fetish and kink. Shelby has studied under professional Doms in the Bay Area and NYC, and has received formal training in rope play, bondage, CBT, impact play, breath play, D/s, and various forms of esoteric kink.

2022 Dates

Dates: November 18th – 20th, 2022

Hours (Pacific Time):  10am – 4:30pm (with a lunch break at 12:30pm)

This is an in-person training and will take place in San Francisco.

Application Information

Prerequisites: Complete the Somatica Training.

COVID Policy

Due to the in-person nature of the training, we are requiring that you have a Negative PCR or NAAT COVID test, taken within 72 hours before the training begins. We are no longer checking for vaccination status.

Tuition

Tuition is $1,500. Upon registration, a $500 non-refundable deposit will be requested to hold your space in the training. The early bird fee paid in full before September 15th, 2022 is $1,300. We offer payment plans and are happy to set up a plan with you. 

CEUs

The course meets the qualifications for 30 hours of continuing education credit for LMFTs, LCSWs, LPCCs, and/or LEPs as required by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences.

The Somatica Institute is approved by the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists to sponsor continuing education for LMFTs and LCSWs. We maintain responsibility for this program and its contents.

Refund Policy

If you choose to withdraw from the training 30 days or more prior to the first day of the program, you will be refunded all tuition paid, less your non-refundable $500 Tuition Deposit. If you choose to withdraw from the training for any reason whatsoever less than 30 days before the first day of the program, you will still be responsible to pay the full tuition. If you are on a payment plan and have not yet paid in full, you will remain legally responsible for the entire outstanding balance of your unpaid tuition. No exceptions will be made.
